Center for Health and Optimum Performance – “CHOP”

CHALLENGE

Life University had outgrown the existing facility and desired to implement a new model of student health care training. An existing vacant facility with adequate square footage was targeted as the new location, but the present layout did not lend itself to the desired use.

SOLUTION

Through extensive interviews and programming, CrossFields developed a renovation plan that retained 70% of the existing structure’s 32,000 square feet. Emphasis was on meeting the desired function first, then with limited funds available, focused on impact design that achieved the desired image. The design-build process saved the University both time and money as on-site decisions could be made when unknowns were uncovered during the renovation.

TESTIMONIAL

“What stood out about CrossFields was the work they had already done here. Their reputation on campus about the quality of the work that they do, the quality of the relationship they had with the people they had already been working with on campus. They worked with us in the design and the aesthetics and functionality that we needed.

They work really well with you and they try to modify things as you if they run into a problem that maybe not been discovered in the beginning and they would just work with you and take care of it.

They are very creative in their design and build, and it’s a good working relationship between the design and build piece, which creates less of a … it’s less problematic for us.”
