Project Overview

Harbour Medical Centers is an integrated chiropractic and rehabilitation practice located in Stuart, Florida. The clinic was redesigned by CrossFields to support expanded services, improved patient flow, and long-term practice growth.

BUSINESS GOALS & CHALLENGE

Having built a successful practice after many years, Dr. William Wiedner was ready to elevate both his brand and his scope of services. Transitioning from a traditional chiropractic model into a fully integrated practice, he envisioned a comprehensive care environment capable of serving a larger patient base with expanded service offerings. To support this growth, Dr. Wiedner purchased a one‑story building that would act as his long‑term home—an investment in the future of his practice and community. His goals were clear: create a sophisticated, inviting environment that reflects a premium level of care; optimize workflow efficiency for increased patient volume; and establish a physical space capable of supporting his next decade of growth.

The building, however, presented significant design challenges. The existing layout was fragmented, with numerous restrooms, showers, sinks, and leftover plumbing fixtures that disrupted usable square footage and limited functional planning. The front of the building had separate entry and exit doors divided by restrooms, creating confusion and detracting from the strong first impression Dr. Wiedner wanted for his new brand identity. Having previously been a lab, the space was chopped up with several existing restrooms, showers, and numerous sinks and plumbing throughout. The challenge was to transform a disjointed shell into a cohesive, welcoming, and operationally efficient integrated health environment that embodied Dr. Wiedner’s refined vision.

SOLUTION

We transformed the existing approximately 4,000 square foot building into a cohesive, high-performing integrated healthcare environment by reworking the layout, clarifying circulation, and elevating the overall aesthetic to reflect Dr. Wiedner’s classic-meets-coastal vision.

KEY DESIGN GOALS

The design was guided by three core goals:

• Creating a strong and memorable first impression

• Improving day-to-day operational flow

• Balancing openness with the appropriate level of privacy for patient care.

Upon entry, patients are now welcomed into a significantly more open and impressive Reception area. By removing the restrooms that previously divided the front entry, the space immediately feels larger, brighter, and more intentional. The Front Desk was repositioned to face both exterior doors, allowing it to function as a clear visual anchor and natural point of orientation. Architectural detailing, layered lighting, and a curved desk form work together to establish a refined, welcoming arrival experience that reinforces the practice’s brand.

Natural light was intentionally carried deeper into the interior using a frameless glass wall Consult rooms. Partial privacy film was applied to maintain discretion while preserving a sense of transparency and openness through the space. Clear, intuitive circulation paths now guide patients efficiently through the office. New patients are directed to the right of Reception into a dedicated New Patient Zone with direct access to Exam and X-ray rooms, while existing patients move to the left into the semi-open Adjusting and Rehab areas for streamlined, efficient care.

Private Laser, Passive Rehab, and DXR rooms were strategically placed to provide acoustic comfort and confidentiality without disrupting overall flow. Throughout the clinic, warm wood tones, teak accents, crisp white walls, and carefully selected lighting create a timeless, hotel-inspired atmosphere that feels both elevated and calming. The result is a thoughtfully organized, visually cohesive environment that supports patient comfort, staff efficiency, and a consistent, high-end brand experience.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

• Removed restrooms that divided the entry to create a larger, more intentional reception experience and establish a stronger first impression for new patients.

• Repositioned the front desk to face both exterior doors, establishing a clear visual anchor and intuitive point of orientation.

• Introduced frameless glass consult rooms to carry natural light deeper into the clinic while maintaining patient privacy.

• Created distinct circulation paths separating new patient intake from ongoing care zones, improving efficiency and patient flow.

• Strategically located Laser, Passive Rehab, and DXR rooms to provide acoustic privacy without interrupting clinic operations.

• Layered warm wood tones, teak accents, crisp white walls, and tailored lighting to create a refined coastal environment that elevates the patient experience.

Project Outcome

This transformation allowed Harbour Medical Centers to operate as a fully integrated chiropractic and rehabilitation practice, with improved patient circulation, expanded therapy services, and a more refined brand experience for patients and staff.
