BUSINESS GOALS & CHALLENGE

Dr. Christina Wellner and her husband, Darren, sought to expand her practice from 1,200 sq. ft. to approximately 2,500 sq. ft. within a nearby, established medical high-rise. To bring their vision to life, they partnered with CrossFields with the intention of achieving several key goals while overcoming specific design challenges. Their primary focus was to elevate the overall image and patient experience to better reflect the high quality of care they offered. They envisioned a more refined, high-end aesthetic that aligned with the brand’s premium positioning, while also supporting a significant increase in patient volume through thoughtful spatial planning. The new layout needed to promote efficient flow and operational ease, especially during peak hours, and reinforce their brand identity throughout the space to strengthen patient trust and loyalty. Equally important was creating an environment that instilled confidence, helping patients feel assured in their decision to invest in their health.

Throughout the process, the project presented several challenges. The existing low acoustic tile ceilings raised concerns about both visual appeal and acoustic performance if they were removed. In the front area, the design needed to balance openness with the need for privacy and clear functional separation. Ensuring smooth circulation between reception, consultation, treatment, and support zones was critical for both patient experience and staff efficiency. A key consideration was blending aesthetics with practicality to meet the emotional needs of patients while supporting the day-to-day demands of a high-volume practice. Finally, it was essential to create a cohesive and calming atmosphere across the expanded footprint without disrupting the welcoming tone that Dr. Wellner had already established.

SOLUTION

Our design solution seamlessly blends edgy industrial aesthetics with warmth and functionality to bring Dr. Christina Wellner’s vision to life. We established a cohesive and visually compelling space by:

·         Maintaining openness while creating separation using floor-to-ceiling frameless glass partitions, enhanced with a feather gradient privacy film for subtle discretion without losing connection.

·         Energized the rehab space with a bold, pixelated mural of a running woman, paired with velvety saturated green carpet tiles to add richness, motivation, and visual depth.

·         Using a neutral foundation of white walls and ceilings to create brightness and openness, while incorporating black accents in light fixtures and door hardware, while the exposed piping emphasizes the modern industrial feel.

·        The edginess was balanced with warm wood tones, soft greens, and quiet patterns to bring comfort, acoustic enhancement, and a healing ambiance to the environment.

The product is a thoughtfully designed, high-performing environment that promotes flow, efficiency, and healing, instilling patient confidence and aligning perfectly with Dr. Wellner’s brand, elevated image, and growth goals.

The business results  realized after being open 1 month:

• The new layout enables seeing 50% more patients (3 vs 2 per 15 min)
• Closing rate on care plans is “so much easier!” as interior matches quality of care
